要注意英単語【discuss】
aboutを入れたくなるけど不要です
✔ discuss /diskʌ́s/ （～について話し合う、～について議論する）＝to talk over, to examine a subject
日本語で「～について」話し合う、とか、「～について」議論する、という表現をするので、aboutという単語を共に使いたくなる動詞ですね。discuss about ABC のように。でも I love you. と言う時に、「あなた＜を＞」愛している、のように「を」を日本語では入れますが、英語では不要なのと同じで、discussの直後に、話し合う内容を表す言葉を続けて良いのです。
例文 <discuss>
① We discussed the matter briefly in the meeting this morning. (私たちは今朝、会議でその件について手短に話し合いました。）
② As we discussed earlier, you will make dinner, and I will do the laundry. (先ほど話し合った通り、あなたが夕飯を作り、私がお洗濯をしますね。)
③ We need to discuss when we should leave tomorrow. (明日は何時に出発するか相談しなきゃ。)

この文は、
We had a discussion about the matter briefly in the meeting this morning.
とも言えます。discussを名詞化して、discussionという単語を使い、have a discussionという表現も使えます。We had a discussion. ここで文が完成するので、さらに情報を追加したいとすると、接着剤が必要になります。ここでは about を使い、about the matter(例の件について、その件について)を足し、We had a discussion about the matter. が完成します。
