We have a very large contingency of international students enrolled in the Music Industry Studies program here at California State University, Northridge. And I'm pleased to say that as a whole they do exceptionally well. Although they come to use with varying degrees of achievement with regard to speaking and writing English,I find that they work exceptionally hard to perform just as well as those for whom English was their first language! I find it exceptionally rewarding to see how well they interact with the American students, particularly on our year-long recording project where teamwork is extremely important. I can tell they enjoy it and the American students enjoy having them as project partners. In every respect, it is a winning combination.
Aki Matsumoto, for instance, was a wonderful participant and outstanding contributor in our program. Her excellent communication skills and winning personality endeared her to her fellow students as well as to the faculty.

Hello all! I hope everyone is enjoying a safe and happy new year!
I have many resolutions for the new year. These include improving my Japanese language skills and returning to Japan this summer! I look forward to meeting all of the new AssisT English Room students and staff!
